Open House & Pancake Breakfast

The Countryside Fire Protection District will host their annual Open House on Sunday, October 3, 2010 located at both stations. This event kicks off Countryside's observance of Fire Prevention Week. The theme for FPW 2010 is “Smoke Alarms: A sound you can live with."

Station 1 at 801 S. Midlothian Road, Mundelein will be open to the public for tours.

Station 2 at 600 N. Deerpath Drive, Vernon Hills will also be open to the public for tours as well as offering several other activities. There will also be several safety information exhibits.

Countryside also hosts its annual pancake breakfast in conjunction with the open house. Countryside firefighters have been hosting a pancake breakfast for over 20 years and will be making this year extra special. The breakfast will run from 8 AM to Noon. Ticket sales benefit fire safety programs in the district and disaster relief to area residents. The cost is $5 for a single breakfast or $15 for a your entire family of three or more. The all-you-can-eat menu will includes hot griddle pancakes, smoked sausage links, maple syrup, a variety of fruit, juice, milk, and donuts. Tickets can be purchased by contacting any member of the Countryside team or at the door the morning of the event.

Come meet and greet your local firefighters, check out all the state of the art equipment, participate in some fire safety activities, and enjoy a great breakfast!
